Phase I: Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Services

Getting the right start

Cardiac rehabilitation begins when you are a patient, following a procedure or treatment. This inpatient program is designed to help patients and their families prepare to return to normal daily activities while implementing a healthy lifestyle. This is an opportunity to look at the many components affecting heart health and get professional support you in your recovery as well as help you prevent future cardiac problems.

A cardiac rehabilitation nurse or an exercise physiologist will visit with you in the hospital. They will review your present risk factors for cardiac illness, provide insight on prescribed medications, and discuss lifestyle changes and choices to help improve the success of your treatment. A registered dietitian will meet with you to discuss meal planning and dietary modifications that you will need to follow and, if you smoke, you will receive assistance from a respiratory therapist and others to help establish a smoking cessation approach.

With the support and guidance of your Cardiac Rehab Team, you can move forward with an active, healthy lifestyle and prevent the progression of cardiac disease.
