Dialysis Services

Dialysis is a medical procedure used to purify the blood by filtering contaminants out of the body. The kidney's purpose in the body is to remove wastes and toxins from the bloodstream. A damaged kidney cannot remove waste, a condition that may cause serious illness or death. Lowell General Hospital provides hemodialysis and continuous ambulatory/cyclic peritoneal dialysis (CAPD/CCPD) at convenient locations throughout the Merrimack Valley area.

Patients are accepted on a permanent, seasonal or transient basis. Each facility offers chronic in-center hemodialys is as well as homedialys is services which include peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialys is through an affiliation with the NxStage Company. All program services are offered with a multidisciplinary approach and include treatment options,nutritional counseling and social services.
