Kacie Bergeron

This Tewksbury Team is All 4 Pat!

Tewksbury resident Kacie Bergeron is gathering her troops again this year. She and her team - All 4 Pat - will once again be walking in Lowell General Hospital's TeamWalk for CancerCare.

It is a bittersweet day because Kacie lost her mom, Patty Swierk, to cancer in 2005. She was treated at Lowell General Hospital's Cancer Center but the melanoma cancer had progressed to stage 4 when it was diagnosed so she succumbed to the disease at just 48 years old. Since then, Kacie and the rest of her team have vowed to continue to support the local cancer center that gives so much back to the community. TeamWalk funds stay at the hospital and directly benefit cancer patients as they are undergoing treatment. In fact, her mom received a $500 grant from these funds and was able to purchase a wig and head scarves with it, items that made her feel better and more confident during the difficult treatment period.

"People should know that the caretakers at Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center are very passionate during a time when patients are going through something really scary," said Kacie. "We will continue to support the cause in my mother's memory because we like that the money goes back to the patients and we want to keep helping others, just the way my mom was helped."
