Give to LGH

Medical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Hematology

The Cancer Center provides state-of-the-art Cancer Services in Gynecology, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Patient care services provided by the center are based on the mission, vision, and guiding principles of Lowell General Hospital as well as the needs of the community we serve.

Medical Oncology/Hematology

We specialize in the treatment of oncology and blood disorders and other medical problems. Our physicians also work closely with your Primary Care Physician to render a complete range of outpatient or inpatient care. Each patient is evaluated by Registered Nurses who specialize in Oncology. Care is also delivered by Nurse Practitioners who manage the possible side effects associated with certain treatments, and provide education about disease processes to you and your family. Our highly skilled Nurse Practitioners meet regularly with the physicians to keep them informed about patients who are experiencing side effects.

If you are here for treatment, please let the receptionist know that you are here. Your nurse will be out to bring you back into the clinic area as soon as a treatment chair is available. We make every effort to be on time throughout the day; however, there are times when we may experience heavy volume of complex patients that require extra time.

TVs, DVDs, iPods and Laptops

In an effort you make your treatments as comfortable as possible, we have televisions in each chair area of the clinic and we also have DVDs, IPods and Laptops available upon request. Please speak to your nurse for additional assistance.

Helpful Hints for Our Patients and Families

In an effort to make your visit to the Cancer Center as pleasant and efficient as possible, please note:

  • It is important that you arrive to your appointment on time. We make every attempt to accommodate and schedule our patients for the least amount of waiting time. We will do everything we can to accommodate your personal scheduling needs.
  • If you know that you will be late for your appointment, please call as soon as possible to let us know.
  • If you need to cancel your appointment, a 24-hour notice is requested.
  • Upon your arrival, always let the receptionist know that you are here.
  • If you are not feeling well, please tell the receptionist so that we can give you prompt attention.
  • Remember to ask the nurse for your next appointment and any tests that you may need
  • We kindly request that you do not wear cologne, perfume, or after shave when visiting the clinic, as certain odors may cause nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy patients.

For the comfort and safety of our patients receiving chemotherapy, we ask that no more than two family members enter the infusion area at a time.
