Quality Designations Earned by Lowell General Hospital’s Center for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery

Lowell, MA – October 20, 2011– Lowell General Hospital earned two recent awards for exceptional quality in treating individuals living with morbid, or extreme, obesity. The hospital's Center for Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery, which has completed more than 2500 successful weight loss surgeries, is now designated as an Aetna Institute of Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility. The center also received the OptumHealthSMCenter of Excellence designation for combining superior clinical care with excellent patient support.

"Aetna's certification and the recognition by OptumHealth highlight the important steps we have made to assure that Bariatric surgery achieves our patient's goals in high quality and effective way."
