Lowell's Over Thirty Baseball League Hits a Home Run for Breast Cancer Survivors

November 18, 2011 – Lowell, Mass. – The Over Thirty Baseball League of Greater Lowell knows how to do more than hit homers and round the bases. The group of competitive, adult ball-players recently made a donation in support of The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital to fund an important program for those facing breast cancer in our community.

This year's gift will fund a therapeutic day at Ironstone Farm to provide a unique, powerful experience that incorporates horses, trust, physical movement, and emotional courage. In 2011, a small group of women from the Breast Cancer Support Group and another from the Cancer Center's children's support group took part in a day-long program at the farm. Hippotherapy is a unique way to help patients and their children with coping and healing and those participating hoped that others could benefit from the same day-long experience in the future.

Lowell General Hospital is grateful for the donation by the OTB for enabling this program to be offered again in 2012.
