Lowell General Hospital Awards Medical Staff Scholarships

Local Students Receive Support to Pursue Higher Education in Field of Health Science

Local community scholars Nicole Lister of Pelham, New Hampshire and Gabriella Zabbo of Dracut were named as Lowell General Hospital’s 2014 Medical Staff Scholarship recipients. Both students were recognized for their exceptional accomplishments in areas of academic, cultural, and civic efforts during their high school careers.

Nicole Lister, daughter of Allison Lister, RN, Case Manager at Lowell General Hospital, is a graduate of Pelham High School and will attend Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in the fall in the Pre-Medical and Health Sciences Program. After undergraduate school, Nicole is interested in applying to the Physician’s Assistant program offered at MCPHS or attending medical school in order to become a physician.

Gabriella Zabbo, daughter of Nancy Zabbo, RN, Special Care Nursery at Lowell General Hospital is a graduate of Dracut High School and will attend Boston College in the fall to study nursing. Gabriella would like to first attain a baccalaureate degree in nursing and become a registered nurse. After finishing her nursing program, she plans to gain experience in the field before going back to school to complete her master’s degree and become a nurse practitioner in a specialty of her choosing.

The Medical Staff Scholarship Fund is established and maintained by the physicians of the hospital. The fund supports the future of healthcare with a financial award to graduating high school/secondary school seniors who are Lowell General Hospital employees (or children of employees) and who are enrolling in a health science program.
