At the conclusion of this program, audience should be able to:

  • Relate the roles of the prescriber and patients in inducing antibiotic resistance
  • Select appropriate agents for various clinical entities and specific bugs-role of the antibiogram
  • Recall potential hazards of individual/classes of antibiotics and evaluate global and specific means to reduce antibiotic need by preventing/reducing infection
  • Restate the Massachusetts Requirements for hospitals and practitioners with respect to infection control and recognize the importance of hand hygiene and vaccination for influenza
