Gentle Exercise to Help with Weight Loss

About the Presenter

Gentle Yoga

A group that makes yoga simple and is offered to both pre-op and post-op patients. It is done from a chair and facilitated by master instructors. "When you're in touch with your body, you're less likely to abuse it", says Deborah Patz Clarke, Psy. D. Her research also found that people with binge eating disorder were less likely to binge after 10 weeks of yoga. The program fee you paid when you enrolled at the center covers this.

Class occurs Wednesdays at 6:00pm.

NIA: Moving Your Body's Way

An educational group designed specifically for both pre-op and post-op patients. This session offers 30 to 40 minutes of gentle movement. It is not a spectator group. Please wear loose clothing. Shoes are optional. You are welcome to bring a support person; however, he/she will be expected to participate in the class. The program fee you paid when you enrolled at the center covers this.

Classes occur Mondays at 6:15pm and Saturdays at 8:00am.

Clothing Swap

This is not a group, but an opportunity for weight loss patients to bring in clean good condition clothing and swap it for better-sized clothing. One post-op problem shared by all patients is shrinking bodies, while clothing seems to grow. The Ambassadors organize clothing swaps four times a year. Clothing is on display for one week in the classroom located at 20 Research Place, Suite 110, in Chelmsford. You do not need to bring clothing to participate, but if you do, sizes larger than 3X are not needed. Sorting your donations and labeling your bags with sizes is most appreciated by the Ambassadors.

Swap dates for 2014 are: January 22–28th; April 16-22nd; September 17-23rd; November 19-25th.
