The Neurodiagnostic Center
If you or someone you love is suffering from seizures or if your doctor suspects a problem with your neuromuscular system, a neurodiagnostic exam, the study of your brain activity and nervous system, may help to detect and treat such disorders.
These tests are done at the Neurodiagnostic Center at Lowell General Hospital under the guidance of a neurologist. Trained technologists record and study the electrical activity of the brain and nervous system to detect and diagnose disorders such as seizure and neuromuscular disease. These tests include the electroencephalogram (EEG), which studies brain waves; the electromyogram (EMG), which studies muscle movements; and the nerve conduction velocity (NCV), which tests the pathways from the brain to the muscles and organs of the body.
