Lowell, MA - The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital has ranked number one in the state of Massachusetts for overall patient satisfaction, according to Press Ganey Associates, the health care industry's leading independent organization of satisfaction measurement.

Staff members at The Cancer Center celebrate their number one ranking for Overall Patient Satisfaction.

Last week, Press Ganey issued an executive report notifying Lowell General Hospital that The Cancer Center's overall patient satisfaction rating of 94 is the highest rating of all participating cancer facilities in Massachusetts, including Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, Emerson Hospital, Salem Hospital, Cape Cod Hospital, Jordan Hospital, and St. Anne's Hospital.

"We always knew that our cancer center provided the best care to our patients," said Murat Anamur, M.D., Medical Director of The Cancer Center. "This ranking from our patients affirms it."

Founded in 1985, Press Ganey Associates is the health care industry's leading independent vendor of satisfaction measurement and improvement services. Press Ganey currently partners with over 7,000 health care facilities and assists them in collecting and using patient evaluations in their quality improvement initiatives.

Lowell General Hospital has been working with Press Ganey since 1991 for satisfaction surveys for all inpatients. "The survey process is an important part of our service at Lowell General Hospital, enabling us to determine what we're doing well and how we can better serve our patients," said Normand E. Deschene, LGH President/CEO.

The Cancer Center, which provides treatment on an outpatient basis, just became part of the Press Ganey survey process last year. Their number one ranking came in The Cancer Center's first Press Ganey survey result.

"I am so proud of the staff at The Cancer Center," said Claudia Rupp, RN, Director of Patient Care Cancer Services. "This is certainly a highlight for all of us to be recognized this way."
