Star Performer, Luis Gonzales"Whenever we need an extra hand, you can always count on Louie," is how coworkers describe Luis Gonzalez, our July Star Performer of the Month.

Luis "Louie" has worked full time in the Patient Transport Department for the past 18 months. In his role, Luis ensures patients are comfortable as they are brought to different areas of the hospital. He is known for his sense of ownership in everything he does and takes pride in making sure all equipment is in working order and cleaned after he completes a transfer. Some of his other duties include assisting patients with their discharge, equipment pick-up, oxygen delivery and transport, and lab specimen delivery. Whatever the hospital needs, Luis is always there.

"Luis always greets his patients with a smile, handshake, or just a caring touch," says Helen Wilder, Patient Transport Supervisor. Luis shows this same sense of caring to his co-workers, always offering to help when short-staffed. He once even changed a whole week's vacation to help out a fellow member of the team. "He is so tuned in to putting others before himself, as long as I have known him," says Helen.

Craig Baneskevich, Manager of Hospitality and Support Services, says that Luis "is always there." Whenever he gets a page, he will jump in to assist whenever and wherever needed, no matter what the task entails.

Luis lives in Lowell and likes spending time with his four children. He also enjoys playing dominos, reading, watching the History Channel and old movies, as well as Latin music.
