Star Performer, Linda McLellan"Linda is one who views the world with her heart, always looking for ways to give of herself to help others," is how co-workers describe Linda McLellan, RN, our April Star Performer of the Month.

Linda is the second shift charge nurse on MP3. Linda started her career at LGH 20 years ago, working many years on MS2 and most recently serving as the second shift charge nurse on MP3."She is a solid team player and a great role model to all nurses," says Brenda Potvin, RN, Clinical Manager on MP3.

Several years ago, Linda quietly saved the life of a man who collapsed while walking down the street. She told no one what she had done and called no attention to her actions. It was only when a staff doctor heard the report of a paramedic that Linda's heroism came to light. It was not just a coincidence that Linda had already been chosen by her peers and supervisors to receive the hospital's Florence Nightingale Award the following week. She also received commendations from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and from the City of Lowell for her selfless act of heroism, her humanity and her personification of nursing at its best.

Linda brings this same passion in her volunteering efforts for the Special Olympics and many other worthwhile causes. She enjoys volunteering her spare time to local schools and her church, and loves watching the Red Sox. She lives in Lowell with husband John and has four children and two dogs, and enjoys spending time with her grandson. It seems that her love is limitless, as she and her husband prepare to adopt three more children that are in need of a family and a home. To the many, many lives and hearts she touches each day, Linda is truly a hero.
