Beyond Our Borders: Medical Mission Honduras

Medical Mission Honduras: Heal the Children

Lowell General Hospital supports the efforts of our medical, clinical and hospital staff and their humanitarian outreach beyond the borders of our country. One of those such efforts is led by Dr. Kevin Tomany, an LGH orthopedic surgeon and hand specialist.

On March 24, 2007, Dr. Tomany, Dr. Marcia Bergan (LGH anesthesiologist) and several other medical staff from Lowell General Hospital will embark on a week-long journey and medical mission to San Pedro Sula, Honduras where they partner again with a team of medical professionals headed by Grant Thomson, MD, Director of the Yale University Hand & Comprehensive Microsurgery Center. Together, they will provide much needed plastic surgery and hand surgery to poor, underprivileged children. All services will be provided free of charge.

The doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who participate in this mission volunteer their time and donate their medical services. They also pay for their own expenses such as airfare, meals, rooming and a membership dues fee which will cover insurance for the group and any administrative costs the team incurs.

How you can help

Please consider making a contribution to help defray the costs for LGH's surgical team and so that they can treat and heal as many needy children as possible in this remote corner of the world. Your gift, no matter the size, is important to the mission. It is also tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Checks made payable to: Lowell General Hospital - Medical Mission Fund.

Please send your donation to Lowell General Hospital, Attn: Development Office, 295 Varnum Avenue, Lowell, MA 01854.

Thank you for helping our doctors make a difference beyond the borders of our community.
