Rosa Rivera

Diagnostic X-ray - Radiology Technologist Aide (10 years)

"I love my job because I like working with people and helping them."

Rosa RiveraIn her ten years at Lowell General Hospital, Rosa has held several different positions, starting in Housekeeping and Patient Transport, and joining Radiology in 2001 where, as a technologist aide, she helps prepare patients for imaging exams.

But while her job may have changed over the years, there's one aspect about what she does that has remained constant - and that's her interaction with and commitment to serving patients.

"If you like to help people - and I do - this is a great place to work," she says. "I feel like I am contributing by helping to explain things to patients, to help them understand what is happening." Sometimes that help includes translating for Spanish-speaking patients, and sometimes it's simply talking to a nervous patient to help him or her relax.

"Feeling like I make a contribution - that's the best part of working here," Rosa adds.

"It's a good team here," she continues. "Everyone I work with is very nice and considerate, the way they take care of patients is very professional, and the hospital is good to its employees. You also learn a lot working with doctors.

Rosa feels the fact that she's been at Lowell General Hospital for ten years is testament to just how great a place it is to work. "They're doing something right!" she says.
