17th Annual Lowell General Hospital Challenge Golf Tournament

Golfers Raised $410,000 for Legacy Fund

2012 Golf Challenge - Golfers Friends and sponsors of Lowell General Hospital turned out in force at the Lowell General Hospital Challenge Golf Tournament on August 27, 2012, raising more than $410,000 for the Legacy Fund. More than 250 attendees hit the links at the tournament, now in its 17th year, held at The International in Bolton, Massachusetts.

Golfers enjoyed the challenging terrain of both The Pines and The Oaks Courses, a barbecue lunch, special gifts and contests, and an auction and awards dinner.

2012 Golf Challenge - Gilbane Proceeds from the tournament will benefit The Legacy Fund, the historic capital campaign supporting the 200,000 square foot $95 million expansion of Lowell General Hospital and its new Dahod Building. Scheduled for completion in December 2012, the Dahod Building will feature two new patient floors with 60 private rooms, state-of-the-art surgical suites and Surgical Day Care Unit, a new labor and delivery unit, and a new emergency department and trauma center. The ground floor of the building, which opened in mid August, features a new main entrance, spacious main lobby and convenient Patient Service Center.

"The new six-story Dahod Building will enhance Lowell General's ability to deliver the highest quality, personalized care," said Normand Deschene, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lowell General. "With the generous support of our community, sponsors and friends, we are continuing to grow and invest in advanced programs and services to meet the healthcare needs of our patients and their families."

This year's Tournament Sponsors were Cerner and Mintz Levin and Masters Sponsors included Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the Demoulas Foundation, Lowell Surgical Associates and Shields Health Care Group.
