Winter Affair

On Thursday, February 7, 2013 one hundred and fifteen people attended the Winter Affair at the Stonehedge Inn and Spa in Tyngsboro. Guests were greeted with a champagne toast, entertained by jazz music by the Trude Witham Group and treated to wine, bourbon and rye tastings arranged by Jimmy Young of Martignetti Companies.

The beautiful Left Bank restaurant was enhanced by the beautiful floral arrangements donated by five florists: Belle Feuille, Blossoms Florist, Classic Flowers, Flowers by Steve, and Les Fleur. At the end of the evening, the arrangements went home with some lucky raffle winners.

The putting competition had the added difficulty of glow ball—a little romantic mood lighting to enhance the golf experience. At the end of the evening, Maxine Derby won the trophy and the $150 cash prize.

The silent and live auction brought out the competitive, but friendly nature of the guests. The live auction included Sting tickets with a night at the Liberty Hotel, a wine dinner for six at the Stonehedge Inn, and an in-home catered dinner for six by Two Chefs are Better Than One.

The staff at Stonehedge Inn and Spa outdid themselves as they graciously served hors d'oeuvres of shrimp and Asian vegetable spring rolls and spanikopita. Guests dined on salad, two types of pasta and chef-carved loin of pork. Dinner was followed by a selection of desserts generously donated by three time Taste of the Town People's Choice Dessert award-winner I Dream of Jeanne Cakes.

The fourth annual Winter Affair raised over $18,000. Proceeds will support the Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary's pledge of $750,000 to the Legacy Campaign at Lowell General Hospital.
